ARMAS (Active Road Management Assisted
by Satellite) is an ESA (European Space Agency) sponsored project in the area of road pricing and other ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) initiatives.
The project is
currently in its third phase which includes working with
parties such as the Dublin Transportation Office (road
demand management trials), the Ministry for Transport,
Public Works and Water in the Netherlands (congestion management)
and motorway operators in Portugal (incident management).
Mapflow
is responsible for the development of the road demand management
application, map matching algorithms used in the ARMAS
platform and the design and development of a low cost on-board-unit.

involves over 40 stakeholders from car manufacturers to
technology developers and will include trials in several
European countries.
Mapflow's role in the project
is to provide a geo-spatial platform for the provision
of maps, routes, geocodes, traffic information, etc.
